Project Adam star to become the new Percy Jackson

He was appointed back in January, but this became known only now.

Walker Scobell, who played the younger version of Ryan Reynolds on The Adam Project, has been cast as the lead on Percy Jackson & the Olympians.

“We were lucky enough to listen to Walker a few months before The Adam Project was released, and the film only confirmed what we already knew about his talent. It was obvious to me and the rest of the team that Walker perfectly combined comedy, gentleness, rebelliousness, causticity, and heroism to embody our hero Percy Jackson,” commented Rick Riordan, author of the books and producer of the series.

It turns out that back on January 28, the writer personally informed the young actor about the appointment via video link and also posted a screenshot of this call.

“He already has a Camp Half-Blood T-shirt, as seen in the photo above. He had no idea that I would be taking part in this Zoom call. He didn’t know about my intention to tell him that he got the part. The shirt reflected his love for the series, and this reaction was completely sincere,” added the writer.

The story is based on the first book’s events, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. In the story, 12-year-old boy Percy Jackson learns that he is the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. Now he has to go on a long journey and find out who he is.

Active production of the series will begin this summer in Vancouver. The customer is Disney+ streaming.

The first two books in the series received feature-length adaptations in 2010 and 2013. Some fans have criticized the films for plotting significantly differently from the original. This problem is likely to be solved in the series because the writer himself prepares the script for the pilot and acts as an executive producer.
